John Bywater, FRICS Managing Director

Leeds-born John Bywater qualified as a chartered surveyor and started out working for British Rail and Leeds Corporation before joining the Burton Group. He left there for Joshua Tetley before re-joining the Burton Group five years later as managing director of Burton Property Trust, then later as head of retail at Donaldsons.

John joined Caddick Developments in April 2007 after ten years as managing director of Hammerson UK and board director of Hammerson plc.

Particularly with his wealth of experience in the retail sector, John is driving forward the large scale, mixed-use development programme that Caddick Developments is currently undertaking.

He also holds non-executive directorships with Workspace plc, British Waterways Board, Low Carbon Workplace, Realis Estates and Opera North.

Away from work John enjoys playing tennis, golf and playing the violin in the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra.
